Alberta counts on Ritchie Bros.

150,000+ items sold in Edmonton since January 2020

Ritchie Bros. has dozens of auction sites around the world, but Edmonton was our first. We began auctions in Alberta in the 1960s and established our first permanent site in Edmonton in 1976. Over the decades we have built long-standing relationships with contractors, farmers, and equipment dealers across the province.

“Ritchie Bros. has the scale and depth of market to drive great results for our premium equipment,” said Michael Karczmarczyk, President of ConTrac Equipment, a leading provider of equipment rental and used construction equipment in Western Canada, and a regular Ritchie Bros. customer for 30+ years. “We’ve worked closely with Ritchie Bros. for years as we’ve built our brand. They help us get exposure to world markets.”

With six auctions held at our Edmonton auction site each year, we help thousands of customers sell tens of thousands of equipment items and vehicles each year. Since January 2020, we have sold more than 150,000 items from our Edmonton site for close to CA$2 billion (~US$1.5 billion)!

“We do our job to get the equipment ready for auction. Then it’s Ritchie Bros.’ turn to do what they do best,” said Mike Vail of Mike Vail Trucking. “You can’t beat the exposure Ritchie Bros. provides and their auctioneer Kevin Tink is awesome—I always request for him to sell my equipment.”

“The Ritchie Bros. staff is amazing”

Last month we held our largest Canadian auction of the year in Edmonton, selling 12,000+ items for 1,400+ consignors, including a complete dispersal for Omni Directional Boring and surplus items for OV Aggregates Ltd.

“The Ritchie Bros. staff is amazing to deal with,” said Leo Rodrigue, Vice President of Omni. “They setup and organized our whole yard, sold everything in one week and then cleaned up. It means a lot to work with a team like that.”

“My brother, Bernie, and I have been in the drilling business since the 1990s but attended our first Ritchie Bros. sale with our dad in 80s,” added Leo. “This is where we come to buy! We are always looking ahead at Ritchie Bros. sales online and then will visit the site the week of the sale to do our own inspections before we bid.”

“Ritchie Bros.’ marketing is second to none—I got calls about my equipment from as far as Hawaii,” said Victor Fitzgerald of OV Aggregates. “When you work with Ritchie Bros. there is no question that your equipment will get the exposure needed for results.”
