Contrac Equipment partners with Ritchie Bros. for global exposure

ConTrac Equipment is a leading provider of equipment rental and used construction equipment in Western Canada, and a regular Ritchie Bros. customer for 30+ years.

“Ritchie Bros. has the scale and depth of market to drive great results for our premium equipment,” said Michael Karczmarczyk, President of ConTrac. “We’ve worked closely with Ritchie Bros. for years as we’ve built our brand. They help us get exposure to world markets.”

Ritchie Bros. sold approximately 40+ items for ConTrac Equipment, most of which sold in its recent Edmonton, AB auction on April 24 – 28, 2023, including two 2018 Caterpillar 745 articulated dump trucks that sold for CA$425,000 each, a 2019 Caterpillar 336 hydraulic excavator that sold for CA$400,000, and a 2007 Caterpillar D7R XR Series II dozer that sold for CA$300,000.

ConTrac is also a big buyer at Ritchie Bros. auctions across North America, researching and itemizing potential purchases weeks ahead of the sale. Two weeks before the auction they conduct an in-person inspection for all items they are interested in, paying close attention to items that are ready for work so they can rent them as quickly as they’re purchased. However, they often buy equipment “sight unseen due to the quality of pictures and info available online.”
