July Market Trends Report: Q2 2026 construction & transportation pricing

With our July edition, we are taking a broad view of construction equipment and transportation sales from Q2 2026 using the industry’s best data.

In the full report, we look at pricing and volume trends for most major construction and transportation equipment categories with both Ritchie Bros. auction data and Rouse retail insights.

Ritchie Bros. Used Equipment Auction Trends

In the U.S., auction pricing results were mixed when comparing median prices from Q2 2026 to Q2 2025. Most earthmoving equipment categories showed improved pricing – except for dozers (median price down) and motor graders (flat). Aerial equipment, telehandlers and forklifts all declined in price compared to Q2 2025; a continuation of the trend observed in Q1.

Pricing in Canada showed more weakness compared to the U.S., with mixed results across both earthmoving and general construction equipment categories. More highlights: 

• In the U.S., articulated dump trucks, wheel loaders, backhoe loaders, and multi-terrain loaders all showed increases in pricing despite a flat-to-higher average age and usage profile
• Truck tractors showed improvement in the U.S. amidst similar average age and higher average usage. In Canada, truck tractor pricing declined on lower volume.
• In the U.S., boom lift pricing declined despite a similar age profile and lower usage. In Canada, boom lift pricing increased as average usage declined. Scissor lift pricing was flat despite lower volume and lower usage. 

Ritchie Bros. Price Index Insights

In Q2 2026, construction and transportation prices in the U.S. remained about the same compared to the previous quarter (Q1 2026). In was a different story for construction in Canada – prices in Q2 jumped about 11% compared to the previous quarter (Q1 2026). Meanwhile, transportation prices in Canada remained about the same as the last quarter.

Retail Used Equipment Market Trends (Rouse data)

Construction prices in the U.S. are about the same as in the last quarter (Q1 2026), while retail transportation showed a decrease of about 1% compared to last quarter. Prices for construction in the U.S. remain elevated against “pre-pandemic” (2019) levels, while transportation values on balance are below “pre-pandemic” levels.
