The 5 most popular semi trucks this year

Ritchie Bros. sells thousands of trucks every year, through live auctions, online marketplaces, and our private listing service. It makes us the biggest seller of used trucks and trailers in North America. We’ve compiled a list of the most popular trucks we’ve sold so far in 2023.   

1. Freightliner Cascadia 125

We sold over 1400 Freightliner Cascadias this year with all types of year ranges. The most expensive being a 2018 model that sold for $64,000 via live auction in Tipton, Ca.

2. International Prostar

At over 500 units sold in 2023, the International Prostar is the second most popular truck this year. The prices ranged from a 2016 selling for $34,000 in Sacramento to $4,000 for 2011 model in a North East, MD auction.  

3. Kenworth T800

Kenworth T800 truck tractors are a hugely popular asset model and Ritchie Bros. sold over 500 this year. The heavy haul 8×6 models sold for big bucks, including this 2021 model pictured above which sold for $365,000 in a Canadian auction in Edmonton.

4. Volvo VNL

Volvo VNL come in various models – VNL300, VNL670, and VNL42T – and collectively we sold over 900 units. Here’s a 2019 6×4 model we sold in March at a Houston auction for $61,000.  

5. Freightliner Cascadia 113

At nearly 400 units sold this year, we’re rounding out the list with the Freightliner Cascadia 113. This 2018 model sold in Atlanta for $64,000 is a highlight.
