Circle D Truck Sales is one of the largest used and new truck and trailer dealers in West Texas. Operating since 1984, the company specializes in truck and trailer sales, truck and trailer repair, oil field, environmental, and construction equipment needs.
Known for its attention to detail and commitment to the customer, Circle D Truck Sales will be conducting a retirement sale in the Ritchie Bros. Abilene, Texas auction on October 29.
Lee Dill started the company as a second job. He was a full-time firefighter but when he ended his career in 2000, due to injury, he started buying and selling equipment along with renting equipment.
“I’d already bought a small rental company and was doing rentals on water trucks dump trucks,” recalls Lee. “Skid loaders, stuff like that. I just made the right contacts with the right people over, then the trucking the truck side of it grew tremendously.”
At 61 years old, Lee says the time has come to retire and pass on the non-truck side of the business to the next generation.
“Is just time for me to retire,” said Lee. “I’m going let my son run with it. He can lose all his hair.
“When you hit that age, or when you hit that time, you say enough is enough. We got the manufacturing side that my son is running. I’m just basically going to be the money behind him for a couple of years until he can get rolling.
“I’ll just go home and play with my cows, go fishing, or do whatever I want to do.”
Lee says he chose to sell with Ritchie Bros. because of positive past experiences as a seller, and how no other auction company can offer the same size of buyer marketplace.
Huge selection of oilfield tanker trailers
Over 300 assets will be available in the October 29 sales, including a full line of oilfield tanker trailers, with everything selling in an unreserved online auction format. Among the highlights in his inventory will be a 2021 Kenworth T800 5-Axle Truck Tractor and 8 extremely late model (2024 & 2025) water trucks.
Frequent maintenance on those assets was always a top priority for Circle D Truck Sales.
“We would always run them through the shops and fix anything that was needed,” said Lee. “Right now, we’re driving them through the detail shop, touching up paint, polishing, and fixing seats. They will be ready to go to work right away.”
