TKT Contracting prepares for retirement sale at BC Regional Event

TKT Contracting Ltd. has provided premium construction contracting, both residential and commercial, in British Columbia’s Sea to Sky corridor for over 25 years.

It was founded by Tim Thompson, whose extensive career in the excavation and civil project industry, helped TKT become one of the region’s most respected providers of landscaping, construction, and utility services. From excavating and back filling to gravel hauling, snow removal, and residential excavating.

After much thoughtful consideration, Tim and his wife Lori have decided to call it a day and conduct a full retirement dispersal in the BC Regional Event on Oct 8-9.

“We had a slow winter and went to Hawaii for a couple months,” recalls Tim on their decision to retire. “After we came back and went back to work, we decided then we didn’t want to do it anymore.”

Tim’s relationship with Ritchie Bros. dates back years as both a buyer and seller at the Chilliwack auction site in the nearby Fraser Valley. He’s a longtime customer who had enlisted Ritchie Bros. multiple times in the past to help with fleet realignments.

“I’ve always enjoyed the team and how easy and professional they made it,” said Tim.

When Tim made the tough decision to retire the business, he called Ritchie Bros. because he knew the process so well and knew the team would work hard to support his sale.

“Having a great understanding of our business and his pride in ownership has made it a seamless partnership,” said Kayla Hilts, Territory Manager. “It’s an honour to be trusted with such a big moment in someone’s life.”

Work-ready equipment maintained by a top mechanic

TKT has always maintained the highest standard for their fleet. Almost all maintenance and inspection was handled by a top-quality mechanic in Squamish to ensure all equipment is in work-ready condition.

TKT’s assets coming to the BC Regional Event are very clean, well-maintained, and ready to go to work today. It shows how much the team has pride in the equipment they use. Among the inventory that will be getting ample attention is a 2019 Hitachi ZX345USLC-6N excavator and a pair of 2022 KW T880 T/A dump trucks.

As for his post-work future, Tim says it will involve enjoying much time at the cabin, quadding, and more Hawaii.

“We also have a small hobby farm that will keep us out of trouble,” said Tim with a laugh.
