April Market Trends Report highlights increasing volume trend in Q1

With our April report, we take a deep dive into Q1 2023 results, including pricing & volume trends for most major construction, aerial, and transportation equipment categories.

In the United States, we saw volumes increase for many major equipment categories, including excavators, articulated dump trucks, multi terrain loaders, scissor lifts, and truck tractors. In many cases this has impacted median pricing for these assets.

Large excavator volumes jumped up 20% in Q1 2023 while mini excavator volumes more than tripled what we sold in Q1 2022. Scissor lift volumes also tripled in the first three months of this year, while multi terrain loader volumes merely doubled. Truck tractor volumes also doubled, while experiencing pricing declines.

Canada volumes also experience uptick

In Canada, we see some trend similarities, but changes between Q1 2022 and Q1 2023 aren’t as drastic due to smaller overall volumes. One difference we saw is that articulated dump truck volumes are down in Canada, while median prices saw modest increases. At the same time, we are seeing significant volume increases for multi terrain loaders, mini excavators, and scissor lifts—much like the United States.
