Ritchie Bros. once again proudly rolled with Inland Kenworth Phoenix to help support Truckers Against Trafficking, a non-profit organization devoted to stopping human trafficking by educating, mobilizing, and empowering truck drivers and rest stop employees.
This year, Inland Kenworth donated an “Everyday Heroes” T680 Next Gen truck tractor fully loaded with a 76-inch sleeper. It’s an incredible-looking truck tractor and the sale resulted in the organization’s largest single donation of the year, which in turn will help fund programs that make a difference.
The T680 sold on December 10 at our Los Angeles auction via online bidding for US$260,000! All proceeds will go to Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT).
Truckers Against Trafficking gets a celebrity boost
This year’s buzz was loud thanks to some high-wattage star power. Kenworth supported the campaign with a video featuring actor Greg Evigan, the star of popular late 70s, early 80s TV show “B.J. and the Bear.” The show was a particular hit among truck drivers, as Evigan played a trucker named B.J. McKay and drove a Kenworth K100. Check it our below:
‘We need to do more to help these victims’
Don Blake, the Inland Kenworth New Truck Sales Manager in Phoenix who spearheaded this year’s effort, says he was inspired to build another Everyday Heroes truck because the number of human trafficking cases reported has accelerated and increased awareness about the crime is needed.
“Unfortunately, human traffickers are taking advantage and exploiting those who have been greatly affected by these challenging times,” said Blake. “Human trafficking cases have increased significantly, and we need to do more to help these victims and bring justice to those responsible. This Everyday Heroes Kenworth T680 Next Gen truck will continue our mission to increase awareness and funding to help those in need.”
This is the third time Ritchie Bros. has joined the cause to help. We sold the first Everyday Heroes Kenworth truck in 2017 by auction and raised $83,000 for TAT in 2017. The 2019 version – also a T680 classic – contributed $162,000 to the cause.
Welcome to the “Next Generation”
The Everyday Heroes Kenworth T680 Next Gen is fully loaded with a 76-inch sleeper, and PACCAR Powertrain featuring a 510-hp PACCAR MX-13 engine, PACCAR TX-12 automated transmission and PACCAR DX-40 rear axles.
The T680 Next Gen sold via online auction at our Los Angeles location in Perris, California. You can view the truck here.
