Get Ahead by Selling Machinery Before bauma 2025

bauma is an exciting world-class event in Germany that brings industries together and showcases new machines to the market. For dealers, rentals and construction companies, the time leading up to bauma is an important opportunity to assess used assets and think about selling older fleets while attention is still on used machinery.

Between now and bauma on 7-13 April, Ritchie Bros. can help sellers get the most value for their machinery.

“Dealers have an opportunity to free up space and capital so that they are prepared for new machines coming to the market,” says Markus Passau, Ritchie Bros. Regional Sales Manager for Industrial Equipment in the DACH region. “We know it from experience. During bauma, new contracts will be signed, and new machinery will be pushed to the market. Ideally, big dealerships and rental companies should sell their older equipment before April.”

Here are five reasons to sell your machinery before the bauma rush in April.

Free Up Capital for New Purchases

bauma is a massive industry event where buyers often plan big equipment investments. Selling older machines before the show gives you an opportunity to bring in extra cash flow and put it towards the latest models or upgrades.

Avoid Market Saturation & Price Drops

After bauma, there could be an increase in used equipment on the market due to fleets being replaced with newer units. Selling before bauma could help avoid post-bauma price drops when supply increases.

Make Room for New Equipment

New purchases mean you’ll likely need additional space in your yard or fleet. Selling early prevents storage issues and keeps operations efficient.

Get Ahead of the Competition

Waiting until after bauma to sell could mean high competition among sellers. By selling early, you can secure buyers before the market is flooded with similar machines.

Take Advantage of Ritchie Bros. Auctions & Demand Cycles

Depending on the region, there may be strong demand for certain equipment types before bauma. Ritchie Bros. has scheduled auctions that can help sellers maximize exposure and value before everyone else lists their machines.
