Of all the heavy equipment that Ritchie Bros. sells every year, the big dozers are the rock stars of the yellow iron world. Their sheer size and power is truly awe-inspiring – the ground literally shakes as their engines pump out the horsepower while they rumble past.
In the past two years, we’ve sold more than 6,500 of these machines. Here’s a look at three (in no particular order) of the biggest – in size and selling price – that have passed through Ritchie Bros. as they’re sold to buyers all around the globe.

2013 Caterpillar D9T – CA$725,000
It’s not the biggest of the dozers, but this 2013 Caterpillar D9T brought in big bucks for a seller at one of our Grande Prairie, AB auctions in October 2016, selling for CA$725,000 (approx. US$551,800).
2011 Komatsu D475A-5EO – US$320,000
One of the biggest dozers in Komatsu’s line up, this 2011 D475A-5EO sold at our Dubai, ARE auction in September 2015 for US$320,000. While not the largest dozer ever produced by Komatsu (the D575 is the biggest), the still massive D475A-5EO stands more than 15ft in height, is more than 37ft long, and can churn out almost 900hp! Photos don’t really do this monster justice – the video below gives you a better sense of its size.
2012 Caterpillar D11T – US$310,000
If there’s one dozer that always attracts a crowd at our auction sites, it’s the colossal Caterpillar D11. The D11s sheer size alone is awe-inspiring – more than 35ft long from blade to ripper, 15ft in height, and a standard blade that’s more than 18ft wide. This 2012 model, one of 31 D11s sold at an offsite auction we conducted in Hazard, KY in 2016, sold for US$310,000.
Watch this video below to better appreciate the scale of the mighty D11T.
